Frequently Asked Questions

The Art of AI in IT

What is the goal of this site? The goal is to provide a tactical "Art of War" style briefing for IT professionals navigating the shifts of 2026. We focus on the practical application of AI—what works, what’s hype, and how to stay effective in a landscape that is changing faster than the traditional certification cycle can keep up with.

Is Doug an "AI Evangelist"? Not exactly. I’m a practitioner. While I’m genuinely excited about how AI tools can turn a four-hour troubleshooting session into a 30-second fix, I’m also nervous. We are seeing machine-speed attacks and a massive increase in power and cooling demands that our current infrastructure wasn't built for.

I love the tools available, and use them whenever possible, especially for creative projects like this one.

Why the focus on "Human-in-the-Loop"? Because AI hallucinations in a global routing table aren't just funny—they're catastrophic. I believe the most successful IT teams in 2026 will be those that use AI as a "force multiplier" but keep a grizzled, skeptical human hand on the hilt of the sword.

Is AI going to replace my job? If your job is purely repetitive and reactive, the risk is real. But if you learn to manage the "Arsenal," you become indispensable. My philosophy is simple: Stay ahead of the curve, or get swept away by it. This site is about making sure you’re the one riding the wave, not the one being crushed by it.

How often is the "Briefing" updated? In 2026, "once a month" is a lifetime. I try to post new tactical updates and "Art of the Tool" reviews whenever a major shift in the terrain requires a new set of instructions.

Who am I? When you’re trying to solve a problem, you want an expert. Which is why I’ve been working in IT for over a decade. If you’ve got any questions, feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn or check out my personal site.
